Dr. Dorra Gharbi (Tunisia)

Dr. Dorra Gharbi is an Engineer in Natural Resources Management (2008) and MSc in Plant Breeding (2010). She completed a Ph.D. in Aerobiology (2018) at the University of Malaga, Spain.

Her research concerns included: pollen grains analysis and their relationships with meteorology, and land cover changes, resulting in fluctuations in pollen trends, including the climate change influence —other topics include long-term dataset analysis, forecasting, phenology, emission, and dispersion of bioaerosols.

Since July 2022, she has been working as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa, leading the first Aerobiology laboratory at Research Entity Unit for Environmental Sciences and Management.

So far, from January 2017 to December 2020, she has worked as a research assistant at the Allergy and Immunology Unit, Hamad Medical Corporation, in a project funded by Qatar National Research Fund entitled Aerobiological studies in Qatar and Sharjah: Toward the establishment of a network for pollen analysis and Allergenicity with publications in Aerobiology and several contributions to international congresses and scientific symposiums related to aerobiology, environmental sciences, climate change, and time series analysis, botany, etc.

Additionally, Dr. Gharbi is a member of the Spanish Aerobiology Society, South African Pollen Network, European Aerobiology Society, and International Association of Aerobiology.
