
Dr. Ahmed Elaffandi
Dr. Ahmed Elaffandi is a Consultant Surgeon working in the Liver Unit at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), where a variety of complex and major Hepato-Pancreatobiliary procedures (HPB) and liver transplantations are taking place. He is currently the chair of the National Cancer Advisory Group for the HPB section in HMC.
He has previously obtained eight years of experience working in a number of recognized HPB Units in the UK, such as the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, the Kings College Hospital in London, the Royal London Hospital and the Royal Free hospital.
His primary area of interest is in minimal access surgery in the field of Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) surgery, which he has developed within the organization. In 2016 he was a core faculty member responsible for organizing the HPB surgery fellowship program, which was designed to graduate independent surgeons with high standards of skills, knowledge and decision making capability.
