Carlos Yánez Benítez, MD, MSc, FACS is a General, Acute Care, and Trauma Surgeon Consultant at Mediclinic, Parkview Hospital, Dubai, UAE.
Aside from his clinical duties in his surgical unit, Carlos is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) in Dubai and is actively involved in various research projects related to hemorrhage control, extremity tourniquet use, Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, simulation, and mass-casualty incident (MCI) management in Europe (NIGHTINGALE). He is passionate about promoting education and training and has founded multiple courses related to bleeding control.
Currently, Carlos is the chair of the Emergency Surgery Section of the European Society of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ESTES). He is also an American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed Ambassador, an International Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC), European Trauma Course (ETC), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor, and founder of and member of the steering committee of the Advanced Bleeding Control Course (ABC-C).
