Dr. Mohammed Salem Al-Hassan is the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of The National Center for Cancer Care and Research. In May 2020, he was appointed to the post of Chair of Corporate Cancer Services by HE Dr. Hanan Al-Kuwari, Minister of Public Health and Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation.
Dr. Mohamed has held many senior leadership roles in his career at Hamad Medical Corporation and is reknowned for his surgical skills, having introduced laproscopic surgery to the State of Qatar over two decades ago.
He is a great believer in succession planning and advocates education, career, and personal development for all levels of staff.
Dr. Mohamed Salem participates in many institutional and national committees, including his role as the Vice Chairman of the System-Wide Incident Command Committee (SWICC) and Chairman of the Thyroid Multidisciplinary Team. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Arab Medical Union. He is well known internationally for his contributions to clinican education and is a past examiner of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland.
