Dr.Tawnda chivese
Dr Tawanda Chivese is a clinical epidemiologist with a PhD, an MSc (cum laude), and a BSc (honors) nursing degree, currently teaching Clinical Epidemiology at Qatar University's College of Medicine. Dr Chivese holds honorary positions as a researcher at the South Africa Medical Research Council /University of the Witwatersrand Developmental Pathways for Health Research Unit, and as an extra-ordinary senior lecturer in the Department of Global Health at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He has supervised the research of over 100 undergraduate students and 19 (14 graduated) Masters' degree students to date.
Dr Chivese is a multi-disciplinary researcher, whose research focuses mainly on the developmental origins of health and non-communicable diseases \, with an emphasis on gestational diabetes and its impact on the cardiometabolic health of both the mother and her offspring. He has published more than 40 research papers in reputable, international, peer-reviewed journals, and he has a five-year H-Index of 14 and an i10 Index of 19. Around half of his publications are either as first or corresponding senior author.
Dr Chivese is an executive board member of the Public Health Association of South Africa and the Insulin Foundation. He is also a committee member of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Diabetes Atlas Committee Hyperglycaemia in Pregnancy Special Interest Group. Dr Chivese serves on the editorial board of BMC Public Health, and peer reviews for many international, reputable journals, include the Lancet Public Health.
