Dr. Hanadi Khamis Mubarak Al Hamad

Dr. Hanadi Khamis Mubarak Al Hamad is a distinguished healthcare leader in Qatar, serving as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Long-Term Care, Rehabilitation & Geriatric Care

at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). She is also the Director of the Ageing Research Institute and the Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Ageing and Dementia in Qatar. In addition to her clinical and strategic roles, she is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Qatar University, where she actively contributes to advancing medical education, research, and innovation.

Dr. Al Hamad holds two prestigious postgraduate degrees: An MSc in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and an MSc in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety from Harvard University. These qualifications reflect her deep commitment to excellence in health systems leadership and patient-centered care. She is also a Board-Certified Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine, specializing in Geriatrics, with extensive experience in clinical practice and healthcare transformation.

She is appointed to the WHO Advisory Group on Integrating the Health and Care Workforce and the WHO Global Network on Long-Term Care (GNLTC). She represents Qatar in various WHO initiatives focused on elderly care and dementia and serves as the Focal Lead for the Global Dementia Observatory (GDO). Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping national and international strategies for aging populations.

Dr. Al Hamad played a pivotal role in developing the Qatar National Dementia Plan (QNDP) and led the implementation of the National Health Strategy for Healthy Ageing (2018–2022). With the launch of NHS-3, she continues to lead efforts to promote integrated, holistic health and well-being across all sectors.

She also founded RAHA, Qatar’s National Alzheimer’s and Memory Services Helpline, which provides multidisciplinary support to patients and families. Her research on dementia risk reduction, published in The Lancet, has contributed significantly to global understanding of preventive strategies.

With over 250 publications to her name, Dr. Al Hamad’s pioneering work has transformed rehabilitation, long-term care, home health services, geriatric care and dementia support across the MENA region. Her visionary leadership and advocacy have earned her numerous prestigious honors, including the WHO’s His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Prize for Research in Health Care for the Elderly and Health Promotion, the Women Icon of the Year, and the Women Leaders Awards in 2025.​
