Welcome Address from Dr. Hanadi Khamis Al Hamad

It is my esteemed honour and privilege to welcome you all to the First Cambridge Dementia Course in Qatar. We are honoured to have reputed international experts from the Cambridge Dementia Course team in the UK, who have travelled here to help us learn together and enhance our skills in the assessment and management of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
Dementia continues to be a major public health challenge, and we must continue working together, doing our best for our patients and supporting their caregivers – this is extremely important.
The first step in the journey of dementia care is high-quality diagnosis: getting it right at the very first step. This Cambridge Dementia Course will help us work towards that very important goal – to learn and understand how to ensure we get the diagnosis right from the beginning.
From the perspective of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Ageing and Dementia, we are fortunate that this esteemed flagship course is coming to Qatar. It will help build capacity not only in Qatar, but across the region, enhancing our care for patients with dementia.
I wish you all a very happy stay and fruitful learning over these three days.
Thank you.
