Zunaid Karim, MD
Dr Zunaid Karim is a Consultant Rheumatologist, Head of Clinical service (for Rheumatology, Dermatology and Neurosciences) at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust and a fellow of the Royal college of Physicians, London. He graduated from University College Dublin in 1993 and moved to Leeds in 1998 as a Research Fellow before completing his specialist training. His MD thesis is on the role of Ultrasonography in rheumatology practice.
He was Treasurer of the British Society of Rheumatology (BSR) from 2017-2020, ex-convener of the BSR Specialist Interest Group in Ultrasound, and a member of OMERACT ultrasound group.
Recent publications include work standardising ultrasound definitions and pathology, as well as ultrasound training requirements. He is an European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology level-3 accredited sonographer and a regular faculty member on EULAR and BSR accredited ultrasound courses. He has been faculty for the renowned Sonoanatomy Course in Barcelona for more than 10 years, and also participated as a faculty member for EULAR Teach the Teachers course.
