Georgios Filippou
Georgios Filippou is a Rheumatologist, working as Assistant Professor at the department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, section of Rheumatology, of the Careggi Hospital, University of Florence - Italy.
He achieved his Master Studies and the PhD degree at the University of Siena - Italy with the thesis “Innovative applications of musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology”. His main area of research is on the clinical applications of Ultrasound in Rheumatology and he has organised several national and international courses and congresses on MSUS in Rheumatology.
He is member of the EULAR faculty of US courses since 2013, member of the OMERACT group for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology since October 2014 and member of the steering committee of the Italian Group of US in Rheumatology. He has focused his research on the applications of US in rheumatologic conditions, especially on microcrystalline arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis but has also a special interest for US of the peripheral nerve system.
He has published several articles (over 70), abstracts (over 150) and book chapters concerning musculoskeletal ultrasound.
