Stephen Colagiuri
Stephen Colagiuri is Professor of Metabolic Health, Director of The Boden Institute and Solutions Domain Leader at the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney. He is also Co-Director, World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity. He trained as an endocrinologist and is a currently a clinical academic.
His research focuses on diabetes and obesity prevention, screening and early detection of diabetes, evidence-based guidelines for diabetes prevention, screening and care and economic aspects of diabetes and obesity.
He has been an advisor on a number of World Health Organization technical expert committees including diagnostic criteria for diabetes and for intermediate hyperglycaemia. He is currently Vice President (Physician) of the International Diabetes Federation. He is a previous President of the Australian Diabetes Society and previous editor-in-chief of Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice.
In 2017 he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for national and international services to diabetes.
