Dr. Honar Cherif, MD, PhD, Professor
Dr. Honar Cherif completed his residency and fellowship in hematology at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, and earned his PhD on Infectious Complications in Patients Treated for Hematological Malignancies. His main research interests include infectious complications, vaccination, thrombocytopenia, hemolysis, and myelodysplastic syndromes.
He was appointed Associate Professor at Uppsala University, Sweden, and served for ten years as Chief of Hematology at Uppsala University Hospital. Dr. Cherif has also held several national leadership positions, including Executive Board Member of the Swedish Hematology Association, and member of The Swedish National Reference Group and The National Ethical Committee.
He has contributed to national guideline development in Sweden and Qatar and has published research on both benign and malignant hematologic diseases.
At Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, Dr. Cherif currently serves as Chairman of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation and Professor of Hematology at Qatar University. He also plays a leading role in organizing major regional academic events. He served as Conference Chairman for the 4th Qatar International Hematology Conference, held recently in Doha.
