Dr. Barnes is a cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist at the University of Michigan in the United States. He co-directs the Michigan Anticoagulation Quality Improvement Initiative. He has multiple research grants aimed at improving care of patients taking anticoagulants, and has leadership roles in the Anticoagulation Forum, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and Society for Vascular Medicine.
