The Cardiac Care Unit provides the highest quality care to patients with acute coronary syndrome, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary edema, atrial flutter, decompensated heart failure, supra-ventricular tachycardia, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and sustained ventricular tachycardia.

We care for adult patients above 14 years of age.

The team consists of highly trained staff nurses and charge nurses, specialists, consultants, and allied health staff, including respiratory care, dietetics, wound care and pharmacy, within the department. We also work with other departments, including infection control, laboratory and radiology.

Patients are admitted through the Emergency Department, or can be transferred from a medical unit or another hospital.

Cardiology services – acute coronary syndrome (NSTEMI), heart failure without acute events, such as mitral valve regurgitation or unstable arrhythmias and/or ischemia with no malignant arrhythmias
