The Qatar National Patient Safety Collaborative (QNPSC) was tailored from the IHI’s Breakthrough Series Collaborative Model which has been designed as a platform where teams can easily learn from each other and from recognized subject matter experts in topic areas where improvement is needed and desired. For this initiative in Qatar, immediate priorities include a focus on sepsis and VTE to make measurable improvements in outcomes for patients and their families.

The collaboration was launched in September 2017 and spearheaded by the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute in partnership with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. There were 33 teams from across 4 healthcare organizations in Qatar namely Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) and Sidra Medicine who worked together towards achieving the aim of the QNPSC.

Al Majilis has been used to support the Scale-up and Sustainability Phase in a flavor of the Arabic culture. The QNPSC-Al Majilis has been developed 4 times to gather all the teams together to ensure spread and sustainability of the improvement initiatives, to continue to create a vibrant learning and sharing community and to embed a culture of collaboration among different healthcare facilities.
