Clinical Attachment Program

​A. What is the Clinical Attachment Program?

A Clinical Attachment is a limited period of observership where a Medical/Dental Student or Medical/Dental Graduate is attached to a clinical department or a particular clinical division at one of HMC hospitals or health facilities to observe the clinical care provided and participates in all relevant educational activities for the purpose of enhancing one’s knowledge in a particular area(s).

A candidate is permitted to do a maximum period of (2) weeks per department/specialty. The total maximum period allotted for clinical attachments is (6) weeks in one academic year.

Candidates are not afforded clinical privileges and responsibilities. It may NOT be admissible as work experience for purposes of applying for license through the Ministry of Public Health - Department of Healthcare Professions.

B. Who are eligible to apply to the Clinical Attachment Program?

• Qatari Nationals
• GCC Nationals
• Holders of Valid Qatar Residency Permits (QID)
• Individuals coming under Visit-Visa (Parent or Spouse must have a valid Qatar Residency Permit [QID])*

*Parent/Spouse Qatar Residency Permit (QID) is a Mandatory Requirement.

C. Requirements for Medical/Dental Students and Graduates

(Students in the final 2 years for the program)

• Accomplished Clinical Attachment Application Form (Download Applicati​on Form​) 
  
• Applicant’s Qatar National Identification Card (QID)
• Parent’s/ Spouse’s Qatar National Identification Card (QID)
• Passport (for GCC Nationals)
  
• Proof of Enrolment into Medical/Dental School (students)
  
• Copy of Graduation Certificate (graduates)

Submit your accomplished request form, along with the required documents (8) weeks ahead of your requested rotation date via email to clinicalattachment@hamad.qa

D. Important Notice

• Handwritten forms are not accepted. Applications must be submitted (8) weeks in advance.
• Applications are for review and schedules are not final unless confirmed
• Successful Applicants shall receive email confirmations prior to joining the clinical attachment rotations
• Additional Requirements and/or Documents may be required upon review by Medical Education
• Limited slots available, application is first-come first-served basis
