Phil Sheppard is a Doctor of Public Health Candidate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he focuses on improving inclusion and access to humanitarian and healthcare services with older persons and persons with disabilities affected by crises. Phil’s most recent work has focused on working with people living in refugee camps in Tanzania and conflict affected areas in Eastern Ukraine where he published the “Missing Millions” Report and global guidelines for age and disability inclusion in humanitarian crises. Phil is a physiotherapist and global health practitioner with over a decade of experience working in Global Health and humanitarian contexts around the world from immediate response to long-term recovery and research. He also practices clinically in Canada in acute care and orthopaedics and is a physiotherapy delegate with the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Medical Team. Phil is passionate about global and public health and highlighting the work and voices of people living in humanitarian crises and the local humanitarian and healthcare workers who provide vital assistance.
