Maureen Tshabalala
Maureen Tshabalala is a public health practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare, and her key areas of expertise are improvement science and health systems strengthening (HSS). She is currently a Senior Project Director at Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) where she leads and manages IHI’s improvement projects in Sub-saharan Africa. She provides strategic guidance, assists with program design, proposals, and offers technical assistance to organizations and ministries on their quality improvement initiatives. She manages relationships with funders and technical partners, including departments (ministries) of health.
She has worked extensively as a Senior Director, Director and Improvement Advisor on multiple projects in Sub-Saharan Africa: Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Nigeria, Liberia, Uganda, Ghana, Sierre Leone, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. She has experience in a wide range of health areas, including MNCWH, HIV & AIDS, TB, HIV & TB integration, other chronic diseases, and community health programs. She serves as one of the key trainers and content contributors for IHI’s professional development programs. She teaches IHI's global professional development programs such as the Improvement Coach Program (ICP), Improvement Science in Action (ISIA) program virtually (global) and in-person in multiple countries like, USA, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Sub-saharan Africa. She lives with her family in Johannesburg, South Africa.
