Maryanne Gillies
Maryanne Gillies is a Director for IHI's work in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific Regions, based in Qatar at the Hamad Medical Corporation, Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute. She has a proven track record of leading large-scale programs to deliver transformational change across health care organizations to achieve high-level, system-wide improved clinical outcomes. Ms. Gillies completed her Improvement Advisor and Breakthrough Series Collaborative qualifications with IHI and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Aberdeen, Scotland. She has enjoyed a varied clinical career pathway in critical care, the emergency department, coronary care, specialist hematology/oncology services, and midwifery. She led the Scottish Patient Safety Programme across a large NHS organization and at a Scottish-wide level across three main workstreams. Ms. Gillies enjoyed teaching at the national quality improvement qualifications at Stirling University and has led many Breakthrough Series Collaboratives to engage and inspire executives, leaders, and clinical teams to reduce harm and unwarranted variation in health care. She won Scotland's Top Healthcare Manager award in 2017 and has had a long-term interest in quality improvement, particularly in the science of improvement and using data for improvement.
