Dr. Basema Al-Houri
Dr. Basema Al-Houri is a Senior Paediatric Infectious Diseases Consultant. She worked in HMC from 2005 and in 2017 she joined Sidra medicine. Dr. Basema re-joined HMC in December 2023.
She is a graduate of the Royal College of surgeons Ireland (RCSI) and obtained MRCPCH from the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (U.K) as well as the Arab Board of health specialization in Paediatrics. She underwent her Paediatric ID fellowship training in HMC then joined Sick-kids Hospital for a one-year fellowship in Infectious disease immunocompromised patients.
She is an IHI fellow and has a master’s degree in quality and safety in healthcare management from Royal College of surgeons in Ireland. Dr. Basema is a Certified Coach from the Dartmouth microsystem institute (USA) and was a core faculty in CCITP (HHQI) thus Coached Quality projects in different departments across the HMC.
In 2011, She established in HMC with her team, the Paediatric department Quality committee and chaired it for five years.
At Sidra she was a Member of Pediatric Quality and safety committee representing Sidra outpatient services.
In addition to that, Dr. Basema was a member of the permanent licensing committee in ministry of health for five years.
