Erika Dunson, RN, BSN, MSc, CPHRM, CPPS, CPHQ
Erika Dunson is a seasoned Healthcare Management Professional with experience leading risk management and patient safety programs across a diverse range of delivery systems, each with unique challenges.
Proficient in delivering training programs for clinical and non-clinical staff that standardize best practices driving both patient safety and quality improvement. She has worked in both large (220 beds with 12 medical office buildings) and small (22 bed acute care hospital with surgical, emergency & obstetric services) facilities as well as providing Quality & Safety support to a large group of Radiation Oncology Clinics.
Recently retired Erika is interested in sharing the pearls of what she has learned during her career with other Patient Safety/Risk Management Professionals. She began her nursing career as a Nurse’s Aide in a Long-Term Care facility at the age of 15.
Receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing at the age of 20 she began working in medical / surgical units for ten years prior to accepting a Quality Director’s position in an acute care hospital in rural Nevada. She moved on to become the Director of Risk/Patient Safety for Kaiser Permanente Panorama City and the Antelope Valley Service Areas.
While at Kaiser Permanente she became a Fellow of the Kaiser Permanente Quality Professional Fellowship Program in 2015. During her career Erika obtained her BSN and Masters in Patient Safety Leadership as well as certifications in Healthcare Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety.
She was previously the Chairman of the Annual Conference Committee in 2017 and has been a member of the Education and New Member Committee. Erika currently resides in Reno, Nevada. She enjoys traveling, riding her bike, kayaking and spending time with her family
