Dr Abdul Rasheed is the Head of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and CT-ICU at Heart Hospital, Qatar. He graduated from Trichur Medical College, India and then completed his residency at the Government Medical College, Mysore, India. He underwent Postdoctoral training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Intensive care from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, where he held the position of Assistant Professor until 2003. He joined HMC in July 2003. He introduced the concept of a cardiac anesthesiologist managing the Cardiothoracic ICU in HMC. In 2012, he was appointed as the Head of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia & CT-ICU in Heart Hospital. He is the site director of the residency program in Anesthesiology, an instructor for the life support courses of HITC and is an honorary faculty member at Weill Cornell Medical College, Qatar. Dr Abdul Rasheed was instrumental in conceptualizing and organizing ‘the Ether Day Symposium’ 2014, at the Heart Hospital in October 2014, the astounding success of which has paved the way for the Corporation making this an annual event.
