Professor Gina Brown is Chair of Gastrointestinal Imaging at Imperial College London and a global leader in colorectal cancer imaging. She pioneered high-resolution MRI for rectal cancer staging, transforming surgical planning and multidisciplinary care. Her research has led to improved curative surgery rates and reduced metastatic disease through precision imaging. As Chief Investigator of multiple clinical trials, including the MERCURY and TRIGGER studies, she has advanced MRI-based prognostic tools and organ-preserving strategies. Professor Brown was awarded her doctoral thesis on MRI staging in Rectal Cancer in 2002 and is a two-term NIHR Senior Investigator. She has authored more than 300 publications, with an h-index exceeding 90. Her leadership includes roles in national and European cancer guideline development, mentoring initiatives, and imaging standardisation across colon and rectal cancer care. She continues to shape the future of gastrointestinal oncology through innovation, collaboration, and education.
