Dr. Nidal A. Asaad MBBS, FRCPC
Dr. Nidal Dr. Nidal Asaad works as a Senior Consultant in Adult Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is the Chairman of the Cardiology and Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology Section at Heart Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation. He did his post graduate training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Toronto, Canada. He was awarded the International Scholarship Award in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in 2004. He obtained the Canadian Royal College Certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He is a fellow of the Royal College of the Physicians of Canada. He has received the Cardiac Electrophysiology Certification from the University of Toronto and University of Ottawa.
His research interests span over a broad range in Cardiology, including Clinical Electrophysiology, Heart Failure,Preventive Cardiology, and Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases in the Gulf Region. He is an active member of the Cardiovascular Research Community in the Gulf and is on the Steering Committee of the Gulf Survey of Atrial Fibrillation Events (Gulf SAFE), National Coordinators of Gulf Registry including Gulf RACE I, Gulf RACE II, Gulf CARE, Gulf ICD Registry.
Dr. Asaad has published in leading journals including the Gulf Heart Association Atrial fibrillation pocket guide lines, as well as a book chapter on Angina Pectoris Etiology, Pathogenesis and Treatment published by Nova Biomedical Books New York. He chaired and lectured in several Regional and International Conferences. He is currently the Secretary General of the Gulf Heart Rhythm Society and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Arab Board of Examiners in Cardiology.
