
Professor Rafael I. Barraquer, Deputy Medical Director of the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre (COB), Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Autonomous University of Barcelona Barcelona, Spain
Professor Rafael I. Barraquer received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, 1979), a specialization in Ophthalmology (1982), and earned a Doctorate in 1987 with the qualification of Cum Laude. Currently he is Deputy Medical Director of the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre (COB), specializing in the anterior segment of the eye: cataract surgery, glaucoma, corneal transplant and refractive surgery. He is also founder and director of the Ocular Oncology Unit.
Professor Barraquer is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Teaching Commission in the training of COB MIR residents, of which he is President. He is known for his capacity as a researcher and is the chair holder of the "UAB Research Chair in Ophthalmology Joaquín Barraquer" since its foundation.
