Tej K. Mattoo, MD, DCH, FRCP (UK), FAAP is a Professor of Pediatrics at Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine (SOM) and Chief of Pediatric Nephrology & Hypertension at the Children's Hospital of Michigan (CHM). He did M.B., B.S and MD (Pediatrics) from India; DCH and MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, London, UK; and is Board certified in Pediatric Nephrology by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Mattoo trained in pediatric nephrology at Guy’s Hospital, London, United Kingdom and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY. Since joining WSU/CHM in 1996, Dr. Mattoo has had numerous administrative and organizational responsibilities. He also served on the Board of Directors of University Pediatricians, Scientific Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, and the Board of Trustees of the International Association of Organ Donation. He is currently the Treasurer and a founding member of the Board of Directors of Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium (PNRC), previously called Midwest Pediatric Nephrology Consortium (MWPNC). Dr. Mattoo has received numerous research grants, including those from the NIH/NIDDK. He has authored more than 180 research publications and book chapters, and has lectured extensively. He is currently the Section Editor (Pediatric Nephrology) of UpToDate, Editor of the International Journal of Nephrology, and is also on the Editorial Board of Pediatrics. From 2007 to 2018, he was the Founding Editor-In-Chief of PREP® Nephrology by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Mattoo has won many awards, including research education, mentoring, and teaching awards by the Department of Pediatrics, teaching award by WSUSOM, NephCure Foundation award for research, and President’s Award by the Board of Governors of WSU for excellence in service.
