Senior Consultant and Head of Medicine Department, Sultan Qaboos University College and Hospital
After graduation from Cairo University in December 1991, joined Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in 1992 and worked as Intern for 1 year then worked as Senior House officer in the Department of Medicine for 3 years rotating through different subspecialties of medicine till 1996. Awarded scholarship and joined Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where worked as Honorary SHO, in Medicine and Endocrinology. During that period accepted in University of Glasgow in MD programme which involved research thesis and clinical training and awarded MD (clinical equivalent of PHD) in addition to MRCP-UK. The theme of work during the study was metabolic syndrome, lipid and physical activity.
After returning to Oman in 2004, promoted to Consultant in 2005 and to Senior Consultant in 2010.Participated in the foundation of Oman Diabetes Association and became Vice-President 2007-2009.Chair and member of several committees in the Department of Medicine and Hospital in addition to membership of the National Committee for Improvement of Services for Diabetes. Active participation in local and regional conferences and seminars.
