Dr. Poonam Gupta MBBS, CPHQ, FISQua, CMQ/OE, CQIA is working as a Quality Improvement Specialist in Heart hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation, a premier government healthcare organization of Qatar, committed to the best care always for their patients. She is a physician by background with an executive MBA in healthcare management. Her previous experiences were in practicing medicine in India for almost three years and a medical claims reviewer in Middle East.
She has a keen interest in quality improvement and patient safety and joined Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, in 2013 as a quality improvement professional. She was trained by Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), USA through various learning sessions and IHI Open School. She has earned several international certifications, such as Certified Professional for Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Manager of Quality Organization and Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA). Apart from these, she is a lean professional and holds Lean for Healthcare from the University of Tennessee and Six Sigma Green Belt.
She has been working for more than three years in collaboration with IHI to improve patient safety and reduce healthcare associated infections and has facilitated several successful initiatives, like the reduction of hospital-acquired pressure injuries, use of standard communication SBAR, implementation of safety huddles, multidisciplinary rounds and reduction of rejected blood samples.
In addition, she is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Inspector, serving the Ministry of Public Health, Qatar, as a part of National Licensing and Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities Program.
