Ann Scott Blouin, RN, PhD, FACHE, is the Executive Vice President of Customer Relations at The Joint Commission. Ann focuses on building external customer and stakeholder relationships, primarily in the hospital and health system market. . From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Blouin held the position of Executive Vice President for the Division of Accreditation and Certification Operations at The Joint Commission. Her responsibilities included executive leadership of accreditation and certification for more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs, including all activities related to surveys and surveyors, customer account management and federal deeming compliance requirements.
With more than 40 years of health care administration, consulting and clinical nursing experience, Dr. Blouin has held positions of program administrator, director and vice president for nursing, and executive vice president for operations at two Chicago area community teaching hospitals and a Chicago academic medical center. She has worked with multiple health systems across the United States and Canada to help them improve quality and patient safety, care management, and operating cost efficiency and effectiveness. Dr. Blouin is a frequent speaker and serves as Vice Chair of the National Patient Safety Foundation, as well as advisor to several graduate health care administration and nursing education programs. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
