Dr. Huda Al Naemi
Nominee for Outstanding Contribution of an Individual to the Middle East Healthcare Industry Award


Dr. Huda Al Naemi started her career with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) as a Medical Physicist. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Qatar University and went on to complete further studies in the field, obtaining a Doctorate in Nuclear Physics from Ain Shams University in Egypt. Upon her return to Qatar in 2000 she became the Director of the Occupational Health and Safety Department (OHS) at HMC and was later promoted to Executive Director. The OHS Department is comprised of five sections - Radiation Safety, Fire Safety, Environmental Safety, Staff Medical Center and the Risk Assessment Section - which manage health and safety for the Corporation which employs approximately twenty thousand professionals from over ninety countries. Dr. Al Naemi has represented Qatar at a number of international meetings and conferences in the health and radiation fields, including a number which are organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). She is also a specialist lecturer in the field of medical radiation.

In addition to her career as a scientist, Dr. Al Naemi is heavily involved in the Qatari arts scene and has been a member of the Qatar National Council for Heritage, Culture and Arts and has written and published several Arabic books and research papers.

At HMC she sits on a number of high profile committees, including chairing the Corporate Facility and Management Safety Committee and the Facility Management and Safety Chapter Committee and being a member of the Corporate Risk Management Committee. She has also been the lead organizer of various conferences, symposiums and workshops, including a workshop on mercury-free healthcare facilities as well as the 1st HMC Occupational Health and Safety Conference, the Stress Management Conference for Nurses, the IAEA 1st International Conference in Patient Assessment, the World Nuclear University 3rd Radiation Technologies School and a number of other clinical and non-clinical related workshops. Dr. Al Naemi also played an instrumental role in bringing the first ever Positron Emitted Tomography PET-CT Scan to HMC; a first for Qatar and the region. She was also awarded as L’OFFICIEL Arab Woman of the Year 2012 Award in the field of medicine.
