Ibrahim Afifi, MD, MRCSEd, PhD, FACS

Dr. Ibrahim Afifi is a Trauma Consultant and a fellow of the American College of Surgeon. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and master’s degree in general surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt last 1990 and 1997 respectively, and in 2003, he obtained PhD in General and Tumor Surgery from the same University. He earned his Doctorate in General Surgery from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt last 2005, Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from the Universite Louis Pasteur ULP, Strasbourg, France in 2008, Fellowship in Trauma Surgery Care in 2008, Fellowship in Trauma Critical Care in 2010 and was conferred as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2015.

Prior to his work in Hamad Medical Corporation, he actively participated in building up a new surgical department in National Hepatology and Tropical Research Institute in Cairo, Egypt and organized Hepatic Tumor Conference for the benefit of his colleagues in Egypt. 

Dr. Afifi is a member of the Royal College of Surgeon in Edinburgh, England and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery. He is a clinical instructor of the Weill Cornell Medical College in Doha, Qatar.

One of the main interests of Dr. Afifi in being a general and laparoscopic surgeon is Digestive and Hepatobiliary. He has also interest in research and has done several research studies since he joined Hamad Medical Corporation.
