Welcome Message

On behalf of the members of our scientific planning committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the Qatar Simulation Symposium 2022: Impact of Simulation in Qatar. This symposium builds on previous symposia offered four of the past five years by Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. This year, the full-day symposium will be held for the first time at Hamad Medical Corporation’s Itqan Clinical Simulation and Innovation Center. Healthcare providers of any discipline and at any level of simulation ability are welcome, as are those who don’t use simulation but just want to learn more!

The annual symposia began in 2017 and has explored topics such as interprofessional education and collaborative practice, simulation-based learning to promote life-long learning and improve delivery of safer patient care, best practices in skills-based learning, how to advocate for simulation-based education, and how to build a career trajectory through network and collaborative practice. The last conference was held virtually in 2020 with a focus on psychological safety in healthcare education and in simulation-based debriefings, while also recognizing the impact of COVID-19 on educators and their learners.

This year’s symposium returns to a face-to-face format, where we look forward to learning and networking with healthcare simulationists throughout Qatar, both seasoned and novice. This year’s symposium agenda has something for everyone as we explore various simulation modalities through breakout sessions where you can learn more about that type of simulation and experience its capabilities. We will share how to find a wide variety of resources that can help you to answer your simulation questions or assist you in moving toward achieving certification. We will have sessions that highlight the excellence that we see around us every day, presented by those who have developed or experienced new or unique ideas, strategies, and outcomes. Presenters will highlight the impact of their work in Qatar, sharing success stories of how simulation impacted how they teach, how they learn, how they provide patient care, and how they improve patient safety.

We hope you will join us to learn, share, and network during this exciting, fast-paced day that will highlight the impact that has been made in Qatar’s healthcare using simulation.

As your co-chairs for this event, we look forward to welcoming you to the Qatar Simulation Symposium 2022: Impact of Simulation in Qatar on Saturday, October 22, 2022
