The inception of the Qatar Summit for Healthcare Risk Management (QSHRM) traces back to 2017, when visionary minds within the healthcare community recognized the need for a platform that would address the evolving challenges in healthcare risk management. The seed of this idea germinated into a collaborative effort, and in 2019, the inaugural summit became a reality through a partnership with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM).
The historic journey commenced in October 2019 at the state-of-the-art Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) ITQAN Clinical Simulation Center. This inaugural event not only marked the launch of QSHRM but also established a precedent for excellence and innovation in healthcare risk management discussions within the region. The collaboration with ASHRM brought international expertise to the forefront, enriching the summit's content and ensuring it met the highest standards of the field.
However, the resilience of QSHRM was truly put to the test as the world grappled with the challenges of
the global pandemic from 2020 to 2022. Undeterred by the unprecedented circumstances, the organizers swiftly adapted, transitioning to virtual summits to ensure the continuation of this vital knowledge-sharing platform. The commitment to advancing healthcare risk management persisted, and the virtual format proved to be a catalyst for growth.
Throughout the lockdown period, participation flourished. The 2022 virtual summit, in particular, witnessed an all-time high, with an impressive 4100 virtual participants actively engaging in discussions, sharing insights, and forging connections across the digital landscape. This surge in attendance not only reflected the summit's adaptability but also underscored the increasing global relevance and impact of QSHRM.
As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, QSHRM remains at the forefront, steadfast in its commitment to navigating challenges, embracing innovation, and fostering a community of professionals dedicated to enhancing healthcare risk management practices. The story of QSHRM is one of resilience, collaboration, and a shared vision for a safer and more secure healthcare future. Here's to the remarkable journey thus far and the promising horizons that lie ahead.
