On behalf of the Steering committee, I am pleased to announce that we will host our 2nd international conference from 30th September 2021 to 2nd October 2021 on a virtual platform.

Our first conference, held in 2019, received excellent feedback and we are delighted to once again present an educational event that focuses on the hugely important topics of geriatrics and gerontology. The geriatrics tracks will look at the healthcare delivery and services for older people; and the gerontology tracks will review research on ageing and the impact this has on populations.

The conference encompasses a blend of local, regional and world perspectives on the comprehensive care of older patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have renowned international speakers from the World Health Organization (WHO) speaking about their pandemic response systems. A particular focus will be on their approaches to maintaining the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) strategy of excellent healthcare even during these challenging times encompassing healthy ageing as a priority.

The educational conference covers a broad range of topics, including Frailty, Polypharmacy and Deprescribing, Quality and Performance indicators, Research and Statistics, Falls and Bone Health, Neurocognitive Disorders, Dementia Risk Reduction and the effects of Multidrug Resistant Organisms (MDRO) on older patients. The variety of topics and speakers ensures there is something of interest for all healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals who care for adults and older adults.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Qatar International Geriatrics and Gerontology Virtual Conference 2021 from the virtual grandstand very soon.
