US Thyroid and Thyroid FNA Workshop
8.30am to 1.30pm
Introduction:
The workshop is a four hour introductory program on neck ultrasound (US). During which a didactic lecture followed by guided practicum of US-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy.
Program:
Registration: 8.30am to 9am
- Anatomy of the neck, thyroid and parathyroid.
- Recognize the indications for US-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy of thyroid nodules.
- Describe the US-guided biopsy procedure and the factors that may limit material adequacy and lead to false-negative results.
- Break: 15 min
- Hands on Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy.
Learning objective:
After attending this interactive educational course, the participants will have up-to-date knowledge on thyroid ultrasonography, thus being able to:
- Understand and Interpret thyroid US images
- Recognize US patterns of thyroid nodules suggestive of malignancy
- Refine the execution methods for fine needle aspiration biopsy on thyroid nodules
- To understand US-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy techniques, through hands-on demonstration and practice
