Tariq A. Nayfeh, MD, PhD is the director of the Center for Joint Replacement at Medstar Harbor Hospital. Dr. Nayfeh is a board-certified total joint orthopedic surgeon, who specializes in arthritis, geriatric orthopedics and hip fractures, osteoarthritis in young adults, hips, joint diseases, knee surgery, orthopedic surgery and total joint replacement.
Dr. Nayfeh joined MedStar Harbor from Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center where he spent seven years as a professor of adult reconstruction and geriatric trauma. He earned his doctor of medicine and doctor of philosophy in mechanical engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed his surgery internship and residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center and completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction at the Missouri Bone and Joint Center, under the direction of Dr. Leo Whiteside. He has given lectures throughout the world on treating infections in joint replacements, principles of arthroplasty and biomechanics.
