Dr Imam is certified in Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Stroke Medicine. He graduated from the University of Khartoum in 2003, then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation and received board certification in Internal Medicine from the Arab Board of Health Specializations; this was followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neurology and Neurophysiology and a Stroke Research fellowship at the same institute, he then completed a one year International Clinical Stroke Medicine fellowship with the Royal College of Physician of Edinburgh in the UK. He also holds a master’s degree in clinical neurology from the University College London, UK, and an advanced stroke medicine degree from the Danube University, Austria.
Dr. Imam is a fellow of the European Board of Neurology, a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and a Fellow of the European Stroke Organization and the American Academy of Neurology. Dr Imam is part of the core Stroke group at HMC looking at developing stroke services across HMC and a core Member of the MENA SINO looking at collaboration and development of stroke services and research in the whole MENA region and the Qatar chair for the Mechanical Thrombectomy Global Access For Stroke (MT-GLASS) initiative. He is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Weil Cornell Medicine, Qatar, and is site co-director for the Weil Cornell Medicine Neurology clerkship. He is also an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Qatar University School of Medicine and a Neurology program rotation coordinator. Dr. Imam has more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and continues to be involved in stroke research, with many grants awarded.
