Dr. Sama completed the Bariatric Medicine fellowship at the National Bariatric Centre (NBC), a tertiary center for obesity management at Hamad Medical Corporation. During their fellowship years in Bariatric medicine, she earned her diploma and MSC degree in Endocrinology from the University of South Wales. 

Her residency/Internship training was at The Internal Medicine Department, and she earned the Arab board and PACES- at Hamad Medical Corporation after she graduated from the University of Baghdad –College of Medicine.

Her main clinical work focuses on medical weight management of obesity and its related comorbidities, pre-bariatric surgery medical optimization, treatment of post-bariatric surgery malnutrition, and neuromuscular complications. 

Dr. Sama has had many publications in high-impact journals and has been able to present them at national and international conferences. Her main research area of interest activities is the effect of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery on obesity-related comorbidities and the medical complications after surgeries. 

She is a guest lecturer at Qatar University – Human Science College. She’s a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons-Glasgow, the American Physician Association, The Obesity Society-TOS (the American Society for obesity medicine), the Endocrine Society, and SCOPE –(European obesity education program).
