Dr. Raza Ali Akbar: MBBS, FRCP(Edin), MRCP(UK), MRCP(UK)(Acute Medicine), MRCP(London),  CCT(AIM), CCT(GIM), DGM(UK), DipMedEd(UK), ECDL(UK), Gold Medallist (18 Gold Medals), Best Graduate in MBBS.

Dr. Akbar is a Senior Consultant in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Clinical Lead for Informatics at the Division of GIM, Hamad General Hospital (HGH), Doha, Qatar, where he has been serving for over a decade. He also holds academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, Qatar, and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Qatar University.

A distinguished Ayub Medical College, Pakistan graduate in 2002, Dr. Akbar earned the title of Best Graduate in MBBS. He created a national record in high school. He was honored with 18 Gold Medals for his outstanding academic performance in high school & MBBS, including the prestigious ‘Aizaz-e-Sabqat’ Gold Medal awarded by the President of Pakistan.

In the United Kingdom, Dr. Akbar completed his higher specialist training (MRCP and CCTs) in Acute and General Internal Medicine. He subsequently worked as a Consultant in Acute Medicine before joining HMC. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from Cardiff University, UK, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Higher Education Academy, UK.

Dr. Akbar is an MRCP PACES examiner and has served as an examiner for the Arab Board of Internal Medicine. He has received multiple Best Teacher awards as a core faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowship Training Programs. His research portfolio includes over 30 peer-reviewed publications.

An expert in medical informatics, Dr. Akbar spearheaded the successful launch of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for the GIM division at HGH and currently leads numerous CIS projects aimed at enhancing staff education, streamlining workflows, and improving patient care across HMC.
