Mohamed El-Kassas is a professor and chief of Endemic Medicine and HepatoGastroenterology at the Faculty of Medicine, Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt. He is also a board member of the Global Council of the International Association for the Study of Liver (IASL), Africa Hepatopancreatobiliary Cancer Consortium (AHPBCC), Hepatology Committee (WGO), Global NASH Council, Chairman of Steatotic Liver Diseases Study Foundation in Middle East and North Africa (SLMENA), Past-President of Egyptian Association for Research and Training in Hepato-Gastroenterology (EARTH), and member of the Executive Council of Egyptian National Committee for Control of Viral Hepatitis.

Professor El-Kassas has a PG Diploma of Clinical Research from the University of Liverpool and is the winner of Egypt’s State Encouraging Award in Medical Sciences for the year 2016, the State Medal of Excellence of the first class for 2017, and the best Arab researcher prize in Natural sciences for the year 2019.

Professor El-Kassas has participated in several international collaborative research works. Also, he has been involved in several clinical trials, authoring and co-authoring more than 220 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the field of Hepatology, with a focus on Viral hepatitis، Steatotic live diseases, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Also, he is an academic editorial board member in many International scholarly journals, including PLOS One, Frontiers, and JCTH, and a reviewer for more than 70 international journals.
