Dr. Khalid Al-Naamani, BSc, MD, FRCPC, FRCP(Edin.), FAGA, FACP

Dr. Khalid Al-Naamani is a senior consultant specializing in Gastroenterology, Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy, Hepatology, and Liver Transplantation at the Medical City for Military and Security Services and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in Muscat, Oman.

He graduated from Sultan Qaboos University in 1998 and subsequently completed advanced training in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy, Hepatology, and Liver Transplantation at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, from 2001 to 2008. Dr. Al-Naamani is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology), the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the American College of Physicians, and the American Gastroenterology Association.

Dr. Al-Naamani holds multiple leadership and academic positions, including:

  • Head of the Department of Endoscopy at the Medical City for Military and Security Services.
  • Chairman of the National Liver Transplant Scientific Committee in Oman.
  • Chairman of the Ethics Committee at the Medical City for Military and Security Services.
  • Member of the Ethics Committee at the College of Medicine, Sultan Qaboos University.
  • Associate Editor of the Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal.

Previously, he served as:

  • Chairman of the Internal Medicine Program at the Oman Medical Specialty Board.
  • Chairman of the Residents' Health Committee at the Oman Medical Specialty Board.
  • Member of the Oman Research Council.

Dr. Al-Naamani has played a pivotal role in advancing gastroenterology and hepatology services in Oman:

  • He established state-of-the-art therapeutic endoscopy services at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and the Medical City for Military and Security Services.
  • He developed a specialized Hepatology and Liver Transplantation Clinic at both institutions, significantly enhancing liver care in the region.

Dr. Al-Naamani's academic and clinical focus is centered on Hepatology and Liver Transplantation, with specific interests in:

  • Viral Hepatitis,
  • Metabolic-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD),
  • Hepatocellular Carcinoma, and
  • Autoimmune Liver Diseases.​
