Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf Abubeker is an Attending Physician in General Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Rochester and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science.

He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Brown University, serving as Core Faculty, Assistant Professor of Medicine, and Co-Director of the POCUS Program. Additionally, Dr. Abubeker completed an internal medicine residency at Hamad Medical Corporation – Weill Cornell Qatar, where he held the roles of chief resident and POCUS program developer. He also pursued a General Internal Medicine Fellowship at Hamad Medical Corporation – Weill Cornell Qatar, serving as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Abubeker is deeply committed to advancing healthcare in resource-limited settings, particularly in East Africa, and has actively contributed to refugee health initiatives in Rhode Island. Passionate about medical education, he teaches essential clinical skills, focusing on physical examination, bedside procedures, and POCUS. He also plays a key role in simulation-based training to improve care escalation practices.

His dedication to education and mentorship has earned him numerous accolades, including the Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award, the Dean's Positive Champion for Learning Environment Award, the Resident Teaching Award, and the Excellence in Primary Care Award. Notably, he was recognized as the Best Senior Resident during his residency at Hamad Medical Corporation.

Dr. Abubeker's clinical practice currently focuses on Consultative Medicine, International Medicine, and Executive Medicine at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He remains committed to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing global health practices, and significantly contributing to medical education.
