Abdel-Naser Elzouki, MBChB, DTM&H, MSc, MD, PhD, FACP, FRCP (UK)

Abdel-Naser Elzouki is a Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine. He is the Chief of General Internal Medicine at Hamad General Hospital and the Chairman of the Corporate VTE Committee at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Doha, Qatar. He holds the position of Professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine, Qatar University, and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Qatar. He is the Clerkship Director of Internal Medicine at Qatar University College of Medicine. 

Professor Elzouki has more than 30 years of professional experience, and his areas of expertise and clinical and research interests include internal medicine, hematology, diabetes, and metabolic diseases and their related disorders, including obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. He has extensive experience in medical education and teaching post-graduate residents, fellows, and undergraduate medical students. He has received several awards and honors, and he is the Federation lead of the Royal College of Physicians-UK in Qatar for PACES exams, an examiner for MRCP-PACES exams of the UK, and an official Arab board and Qatari board examiner for Internal Medicine specialty.  

He has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and written five book chapters. He is the editor-in-chief of LJMS, an editorial board member, and a reviewer of a number of international medical journals. In addition to being a member of many regional and international professional associations and societies, Professor Elzouki is the President of the Mediterranean Task Force for Cancer Control (MTCC) (2023-2025) and a member of the scientific `board of Global NASH/MASH and the research group of Steatotic Liver Disease in MENA region (SLMENA).

 Professor Elzouki has been invited as a speaker to several regional and international conferences. He is the director of the series of "Clinical Review Courses for Internal Medicine Board Exams", held regularly in Doha, Dubai, Tripoli, and Muscat, and co-founder and instructor of structured courses and workshops on Medical Professionalism and Communication Skills conducted for residents, fellows and consultants at regular bases in HMC. Professor Elzouki is the champion for the Qatar National Clinical Guidelines (NCG) Program in different capacities, including being a subject matter expert and member of other guidelines that fall in the scope of Internal Medicine and its subspecialties.
