Dr. Maher Saqqur

Graduated from Damascus University in 1994
Dr. Saqqur completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and Neurology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and Penn State University. He completed his stroke fellowship with Dr. Shuaib in University of Alberta
where he was also staff neurologist and Clinical Professor of Medicine and Neurology.
Dr. Saqqur recently joined Hamad Medical Corporation as a senior consultant at the Neuroscience Institute.
He holds a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology and has more than 90 publications in peer reviewed journal and four book chapters.
His main areas of interest are neuroimaging, acute intervention neurosonography in stroke.
He established the Neurosonology Program at the University of Alberta and Hamad General Hospital where he is also the physician of tel Stroke program.
He is one of Co-founder of UOSSM (United organization of medical relief and primary care)
He has helped design and establish several trauma hospitals and primary care centers and rehabilitation centers in war zone and refugee areas.
