Welcome to Qatar’s Organ Donation and Transplantation Program

Qatar’s National Organ Donation and Transplantation Program demonstrates a strong dedication to ethical standards, clinical excellence, and compassionate patient care.

Designed to serve the needs of our expanding nation and its diverse population, the program offers integrated, multi-organ transplantation services through a unified national waiting list. This approach ensures fairness, transparency, and equity for every patient.

Transplantation services in Qatar have grown into a comprehensive care system. Originally focusing on kidney transplants, the program has evolved into a multi-organ transplant initiative, supported by expert surgeons, dedicated nursing teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. These teams work collaboratively, always prioritizing patients’ well-being. Their expertise and commitment are essential to providing safe, high-quality care before, during, and after surgery.

The founding of the Qatar Center for Organ Transplantation (QCOT) was a significant achievement, establishing a specialized facility that offers not only advanced medical care, but also emotional, social, and educational support for organ recipients, donors, and their families.

Driven by its vision to become a regional leader, QCOT advances clinical care, research, and education through robust national and international partnerships. Currently, QCOT operates four programs: kidney, liver, lung, and heart transplants.

Supporting these efforts, the Qatar Organ Donation Center (HIBA) oversees and coordinates all organ donation activities across the country. Serving as the central hub for the national donor and transplant registries, HIBA ensures full compliance with Qatar’s transplantation laws and ethical guidelines, while promoting public awareness and community involvement. Through education and advocacy, the program aims for national self-sufficiency in organ donation, rooted in respect, dignity, and shared responsibility.

Collectively, these initiatives create a humane, equitable, and world-class system that places patients, families, and society at the forefront of organ donation and transplantation in Qatar.
