The issue of depression is very common among women of reproductive age, especially postpartum depression. Often, trying to get pregnant, being pregnant, or the birth of a baby can increase the risk for depression. Also, many women don’t know that depression sometimes happens with other events, such as losing a baby or having trouble getting pregnant. Women may also feel depressed for many other reasons—some may not even know why they are depressed.

If you feel you’re depressed or might be experiencing some mental health issues, contact your family physician to get a referral to receive specialized care at any of the perinatal wellness clinics across HMC’s maternity hospitals.
