World Health Day

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and the Primary Health Care Corporation, and in collaboration with Action on Diabetes and the Qatar Diabetes Association, have organized a series of activities to mark World Health Day on 7 and 8 April 2016.

The World Health Organization has selected raising awareness about diabetes as the theme for World Health Day 2016. Planned activities aim to raise awareness about general health matters, with a specific focus on educating the community about diabetes.

Diabetes Screenings 
Thursday, 7 April 2016
8am to 12pm
Main lobby of all HMC hospitals
Staff, visitors and members of the public are invited to come for a free diabetes screening.

Diabetes Awareness Exhibition
Friday, 8 April
2pm to 6pm 2016
Souq Waqif Al Wakra (5pm to 10pm) and Al Khor Park (2pm to 6pm)
Come meet HMC’s diabetes care team for dietary counseling, education and a free diabetes screening. There will be giveaways and fun activities for the whole family.
 

What happens during a diabetes screening? screening?
Nurses will take a small finger-prick sample of blood to measure your blood glucose level. Depending on the results of this test, you may be asked to come back for further assessment. If appropriate, you may also be referred to your doctor.
