Why does my baby have an appointment at the Baby Therapy Clinic?
Your baby has an appointment at the Baby Therapy Clinic because your baby might have:
- be born early (premature)
- had positional talipes (foot bend)
- had low birth weight
- had less movement in the hand/arm after delivery
- have any concerns for baby development due to NICU admission
-
What to expect at your Baby Therapy Clinic appointment?
In the clinic, your baby will be assessed by an Occupational Therapist and a Physiotherapist. Therapist who will assess your baby’s neuromotor development, activities, movements and feeding skills. They will suggest strategies to optimize your baby’s development.
You will be given follow-up appointments based on your baby’s health needs.
If your baby is sick, please reschedule your appointment, as we want baby’s active cooperation to accurately assess the function.

How can I make the best use of my Baby Therapy Clinic appointment?
Make sure you attend your appointment. Try to avoid scheduling multiple appointments on the same day. In case your baby has two appointments on the same day, for e.g., vaccination, try to visit Baby Therapy Clinic first when the baby is less tired. Less tired/happy baby cooperates better for accurate assessments.
Take pictures and videos of your child while doing fun activities and focus on the area of the concern identified in the hospital. For example, arm weakness. Please bring some good pictures and videos of your baby to the appointment as these can help the therapist in assessing your baby, if the baby is sleepy/crying/doesn’t cooperate.
Also, bring your baby dressed in clothes which can be easily removed to see the movements and activities.
