When you are admitted, you will be welcomed by a nurse or midwife. They will introduce themselves and make you feel comfortable.

Depending on your reason for admission, they will either support and care for you through labor or keep you for observation while they monitor you and your baby. If you are leaking fluid vaginally and are not in labor, you will be started on antibiotics after 18 hours of your water breaking .

If your blood pressure is high, you and your baby will be monitored. If you go into labor, you will be transferred to the Labor and Delivery Unit.
