While every mother and baby has a different labor and birth experience,
you can expect to go home 1 to 2 days after giving birth if you and your
baby are well and your baby was born vaginally.
If you have had a caesarean section birth, you may expect to go home within 2-3 days after your surgery.
When
you and your baby are fit for discharge, you will be given additional
information about how to register your baby’s birth and how you can
attend postnatal clinics including our Lactation and Baby Clinic located
in our Outpatient Department.
You will be given follow-up appointments for you and your baby if required as well as a medical certificate.
Your
nurse or midwife will also inform you when to contact the hospital in
an emergency such as if you experience shortness of breath, heavy
bleeding or if you have concerns about your baby.
Advice regarding visits to PHCC for further postnatal care will also be provided.
