Physical therapy addresses illnesses or injuries that limit a person's abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
It is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty that uses resistance training and movements to help a person regain an appropriate level of function and fitness following illness or injury.
Treatment, usually specific exercises, manual therapy and manipulation, mechanical devices, education, physical agents which include heat, cold, electricity, sound waves, radiation, rays, prescription of assistive devices, prostheses, orthoses and other interventions.
Physical therapy is performed by physical therapists and is often provided alongside, or in conjunction with, other medical services. They work with QRI’s experienced Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) teams to arrive at a diagnosis and establish a rehabilitation treatment plan.
Where necessary they will also incorporate the results of laboratory and imaging studies like X-rays, CT-scan, or MRI findings.
